Wequassett Resort Wedding on Cape Cod :: Christine + Alex

Alrighty, it's the day before July 4th which technically means it's the Friday of the work week even though it's actually Wednesday. Maybe you went out for lunch and now you're figuring how soon you can get out of work to start having some fun. Why not let the gazillion pictures of this blog post load and go get yourself a coffee, a diet coke or if you work from home, heck, go grab a cold one and get ready for the spectacular, emotional, beautiful, most amazing of Christine and Alex at Wequassett Resort and Golf Club on Cape Cod.

Back already? Do you have your beverage? You might be here a while, maybe grab a snack...

Little fish bubbles? Or wedding rings?

Aye aye Captain, shoes on a ship's wheel :)

Christine & Alex had the photo and video dream team (modest much Leah?). For starters it was an all-girl crew. Boys don't know how to use this complicated photo and video stuff don't you know? No seriously, I had the ridiculously talented Lindsay along with me for the day as well as the always amazing Audrey. AND we got to work with Megan and Mia of Long Haul Films (one of my very favorite Boston video companies). We were like a crack team of (wo)men in black with cameras. Anyhoo, Lindsay hung out with Alex and the guys:

Dani Wagener made all of the ladies look even more beautiful than usual, if you're looking for Boston wedding photographer you really can't make a better decision that booking Dani. She's so calm on your wedding day and she makes everyone look absolutely flawless. Airbrush make up for the win!

Everyone was smiling from ear to ear or tearing up everytime they looked at Christine:

Christine's father sees her as a bride for the first time:

Christine and Alex initially thought they would wait to see each other for the first time at their ceremony but a few months ago they let me know they'd decided to do a first look or reveal. A most excellent decision:
- they got to have some alone time in the otherwise craziness of the wedding day - you can actually talk and hug and kiss (you can't do this at the top of the aisle when the priest or rabbi is standing 12 inches away)
- we did all of the formal family and wedding party pictures before the ceremony when hair and make up was perfect (and not windswept!) - especially relevant as there was quite a delay to the ceremony when a shuttle bus full of guests went missing and it would have been really rushed trying to do pictures afterwards
 - after the ceremony they got to enjoy a glass of champagne as newlyweds with their closest friends and family vs. standing and smiling at the camera

Enough of my rambling, are you ready.....we're keeping Alex from seeing Christine for the first time:

Just look at these two! I could have photographed them all day:

I just booked a wedding for May 2014 with an awesome couple and in our emails back and forth they asked me "Do you only photograph attractive people?!?!"

Looking at that last picture you might think that's the case :) All of my couples have one thing in common and it's not to do with their looks (although obviously I take pictures what show everyone looking the best they've ever looked - doh!).  The couples I work with are all incredibly excited about their wedding day, they've planned for a long time and they can't wait to celebrate with their closest friends and family. But here's the thing - they're just as excited about all of the days that come after  - they can't wait to start their married life together. Case in point - Christine and Alex wanted to say traditional wedding vows during their ceremony but they'd also written incredibly personal vows to each other and they chose to read them during the first look.

OK, wipe your eyes and let's get on to the wedding party pictures - this was one of the most fun wedding parties I've ever photographed. First I took some pictures of Christine and Alex alone:

Lindsay caught this one of Alex, he couldn't take his eyes off Christine:

We started off with a few traditional pictures before hilarity ensued. Lindsay also took the smaller images off to the side with the craziness:

We finished with some relaxed yet totally mantel-worthy family pictures:

Hop to it! We've got a wedding to get to!!!

The ocean-front wedding ceremony setting of Wequassett is just beautiful. Happiness all around.

Those rings are looking pretty good Mr & Mrs. Evans! Champagne? Yes please! Way more fun to enjoy cocktail hour than doing formal pictures!

The ballroom looked stunning with soft draping and dramatic uplighting:

The newlyweds were announced for their first dance as husband and wife followed by the most personal toasts. Christine's father talked about Alex flying in and playing the worst round of golf in his life due to his nerves in asking Mike for his permission to ask Christine to marry him. Rhys and Laura then talked about the amazing relationship that Christine and Alex have and how they're an inspiration to both families.

Parent dances were next. Alex danced with his Mom Judy before Christine and Mike tore up the dance floor with a surprise performance!

With that the dancefloor was well and truly opened. Shout out to Manhattan Touch - this was the third or fourth wedding I've seen them play at and they're an awesome band!

Guests snacked on sliders, french fries, cookies and milk in order to sustain their dancing into the wee hours

Regular blog readers will know I have a soft spot for grandparents. The pictures of my grandmother at our wedding are some of my absolute favorites. I like to think I have grandparent radar at a wedding - I'm always keeping an eye on the grandparents to see what they're up to. Beep, beep, beep went my grandmother radar with the fabulous Doris and Elaine followed up by more beeping as Arthur (or Pop-Pop to those in the know) surprised Christine by whisking her out on the dance floor:

We snuck outside for 5 minutes of pictures late at night:

Before heading back in to see Christine tear up the dancefloor to "single ladies" (Christine had her Mom's wedding dress altered and changed into it for dancing - love!)

And that ladies and gentlemen is all I have for you today!!! Was it worth the wait? Rest assured I'm back in the blogging zone with 2 weddings and 2 engagement shoots waiting to be shared with the interwebs :) In the meantime Happy Fourth of July! Make sure you LIKE Leah Haydock Photography to see more sneak peeks and be the first to know when a new blog post goes up.

Christine & Alex - what can I say? I think we could all learn from the way the two of you are with each other. So relaxed and comfortable yet so very considerate and thoughtful too. From that lunch we had 18 months ago to the mad dash to get your contract in the mail to secure the date before another couple - it's been so much fun getting to know you both. Wishing you a lifetime of love, laughter, health and happiness.

Oh go on then...one last picture:
