Red Lion Inn Cohasset Wedding :: Courtney + Mike

Happy 2 week anniversary Mr & Mrs Budz!!! I figured you'd be home from your honeymoon and might like to see just a few pictures from "the best day ever" also known as "Courtney & Mike's wedding" at the Red Lion Inn, Cohasset, MA.

First of all a big shout out to Long Haul Films who sent Courtney and Mike my way. Tom & Melissa are the most amazing wedding film makers in Boston, in fact I think they're officially "the Best of Boston" according to a bunch of magazines. They're definitely "best of Boston" in my mind and I was super happy to be shooting alongside them at this amazing wedding.

You needed an invitation to the best day ever and I love this stationery suite from Minted:
When I arrived hair and make up was underway in the Soleil salon at the Red Barn Inn:
Audrey was hanging with Mike and the guys as they headed to Mr Dooley's Irish Pub for pre-wedding beers.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the super awesome and talented Dani Wagener was working her make up magic whilst hair was done by another fav of mine the fab Jennifer Tawa Hair Design)
What's not to love about a pair of gold sparkly Kate Spade shoes and sparkly purse?
The top of Courtney's perfume bottle struck me as a perfect backdrop for her engagement ring
I was stoked to find out Les Fleurs were doing the flowers. Kerianne and the Les Fleurs team always manage to come up with the most spectacular arrangements/colors
Both Courtney and Mike are really close to their families. Courtney wrote this note to her parents and then there were the sweetest moments with her Mom, then Dad (loving the handkerchief Courtney gave her Dad)
Time for the first look, Mike waited patiently as Courtney walked towards him
Loving Mike's reaction to seeing Courtney for the first time in her wedding dress from Country Weddings
Seriously? How cute are these two? Loving the bridemaids peeping in the background
Time was running away from us and it was time to hop on the trolley to go take family pictures but just one more of the almost-newlyweds
Relaxed and happy family formals
Courtney's bridesmaids got their dresses from Country Weddings:
Mike and the guys looking pretty sharp, loving the skinny ties and monogram tie clips
Gotta get going people! We have a church to get to! Courtney and Mike need to get married!

I've posted in depth about the concept of "unplugged" weddings - it's TOTALLY up to each couple but I love this little card that Courtney & Mike included with their wedding program. And check out the pictures - no big arms with iPhones in the aisle, no guests going rogue up on the altar to get a blurry picture and most importantly, guests looking at Courtney and Mike and not at their phones!

Cutest ring bearers and flower girls
Emotions were running high during the ceremony with tears and laughter and I think I figured out who Mike takes after (his Mom!)
This is one of my favorite pictures from the day
Now we're going to have a little quiz. The question is "Who is happier to be married? - Courtney or Mike?" and here is the photographic evidence to help you decide
We headed to the beach for some post-wedding pictures. Pay particular attention to those clouds in the sky. 5 minutes after I took this picture the clouds rolled in at crazy speed and the heavens opened. Courtney and Mike were pretty chilled out :)
We figured we should use the rainshower as travel time and head back to the Red Lion Inn. Courtney and Mike kept a tight hold of each other on the trolley
The rain had passed over by the time we got back and we had a few minutes before cocktail hour started
Guests entered the beautiful barn at the Red Lion Inn to be met with beautiful calligraphed escort cards nestled amongst candles and sparkly apples (Mike proposed in an orchard!) and lovely little flowers from Les Fleurs. This wedding was awash with thoughtful and personal details - loved the wedding pictures of Courtney & Mike's families on the window pane and the little apple cake pops from Cake Pops Boston:

Thank you to Audrey for this shot of the new Mr & Mrs Budz making their grand entrance

First dance to "Ho Hey!' by the Lumineers
A welcome toast by Courtney's parents was followed by the most fabulous toasts by Maid of Honor Aly and Best Man Tom involving hilarious stories, shots of Polish vodka and other fun, and then Mike's parents Maria & Bruno did a traditional Polish blessing involving bread, salt and wine.
Courtney danced with her Dad Jay who held her tight
And Mike danced with his Mom Maria. Thanks to Audrey again for this one from the balcony:

Groove Authority were the band for the evening and there was literally no room to move on the dance floor - it was awesome
I'm seeing Instagram hashtags as the big wedding trend for 2013/2014. I love it combined with an unplugged ceremony - best of both worlds!!
Courtney and Mike - wow - what a day! The Best Day Ever!  I wish you a lifetime of even BETTER days filled with love and laughter. Many people say "I'm marrying my best friend," but in your case it was 110% true. Thank you for letting me photograph your wedding!
Happy Friday y'all. I'm at Glen Magna Farms for a wedding I've been looking forward to for ages tomorrow and then it's engagement shoot craziness for the next week...I'll be back early next week with a beautiful Ogunquit engagement shoot for your viewing pleasure!
