St Agnes Church Wedding, Arlington, MA + Cafe Escadrille :: Lori + Tom

2 weeks ago I had the honor of photographing Lori & Tom's wedding ceremony at St Agnes Church in Arlington, MA followed by their wedding reception at Cafe Escadrille in Burlington, MA.

The newlyweds have a honeymoon to go on but I thought they'd like to see some of the highlights of their wedding pictures before they jet off so today's blog post is ridiculously long - go get a coffee while the images load up and then settle in for this storybook wedding:

Some details to start the day:

Lori's dress was from Camilla's Bridal and the amazing Lisa Roache did make up:

Lori's Mom Kathleen seeing her daughter as a bride for the first time:

As we headed for the elevator, Lori spotted this rather awesome sofa:

Meanwhile Audrey was photographing the guys with the usual ties/beers/how to fold a pocket handkerchief fun:

I love the next two images of Lori - I think it's the happy anticipation or maybe I'm just jealous of her arms. Must. Go. To. The. Gym.

I photograph a LOT of weddings in Catholic churches and St Agnes is one of the most beautiful in my opinion. Wait until you see the turquoise silk walls:

Ladies and Gentlemen I present to you Jimmy. The most adorable ring bearer in the world. I don't care how many other cute ring bearers you've seen at other weddings, there's no way they're more adorable than Jimmy:

Patrick proudly walked his excited sister down the aisle towards a very happy Tom:

See? Most beautiful church:

It's rare that I would describe a wedding ceremony as hilarious but Father Stephen Boyle who has worked with Lori for many years managed to insert moments of hilarity into a very beautiful and meaningful ceremony. Let's just say that he gave Lori some sage advice on how to be the best wife to Tom along with the most unique analogy of marriage as a trip to Disney World. You start on Main Street of the Magical Kingdom, you're all excited about Tomorrow Land, there will be tough times in Frontier Land but you'll have a blast in Adventure Land :)

The rest of the wedding ceremony progressed in the time honored tradition of vows, rings and the kiss. The image of Tom is Audrey's:

The weather in New England is always somewhat unpredictable but in March you really have no idea what you'll get. Lori was super smart and rented a beautiful historic house in Winchester so we had an indoor option for family and wedding party pictures. It was chilly but sunny out so we kept warm inside for family pictures before braving the outdoors for couples and wedding party pictures:

Yes, Tom has a LOT of brothers:

A quiet moment in one of the rooms of Sanborn House:

I'm not one for faddy actions and filters but this next image seemed kind of Old Hollywood to me so I may have pushed the grain a little to evoke more of a film feel. Like? Not like?

Our next stop was Cafe Escadrille in Burlington, MA for the wedding reception. Lori and Tom made the table numbers and Matron of Honor Alison wowed us all with her excel skills to make these beautiful menu cards:

The newlyweds danced their first dance to "When you got a good thing" by Lady Antebellum

DJ Dan McCarthy was really great, rather than just the usual background music for dinner he had people up and dancing in between courses:

Toasts from Matron of Honor Alison and Best Man/Tom's brother Joe had everyone laughing and then reaching for their napkins to wipe their eyes:

Tom danced with his Mom Mary:

We timed it perfectly to sneak outside for 5 minutes of twilight-y blue sky. I should also mention what a pleasure it was to work alongside Russell Smithe of Mavid Productions again, it's been a while since we worked together at the Colonnade but Russell was a consumate professional - I stayed out of his video and he stayed out of my pictures. Thank you Russell!

DJ Dan had the dancefloor PACKED. Love Alison's use of the sash on her bridesmaid dress as a limbo bar:

Lori and Tom danced with friends, chatted with family members but kept gravitating back to one another, I have lots of pictures like this of them on the dancefloor - in their own little world :) Lori & Tom - hugest congratulations!!! It has been so great working with you both, you both have the most welcoming friends and family and it was a pleasure to document your wedding. I got your lovely thank you note in the mail yesterday and it made my week :) Wishing you a lifetime of love, laughter, health and happiness together.
