Leah Haydock Photography :: Reviews :: Couples talking about their favorite photos

When you're looking for a wedding photographer it's kind of hard knowing where to start:
- You ask your engaged and married friends
- You do a few google searches
- You look at website after website, gallery after gallery
- You narrow it down to your favorites and then you call or email
- Maybe you skype or meet in person
- You look at online reviews and ask all sorts of questions.

You invest a lot of time, money and effort. And then you have to trust your photographer to capture those fleeting moments, to record all of the little details you'll miss through the day, to take those family pictures that will become more valuable as the years go by. Your photographer acts as your eyes and it's though the pictures that you remember how you felt on your wedding day.

It's a giant leap of faith.

I wanted to find a way to give couples considering hiring me for their wedding more about what it's like to have me as their photographer.

I didn't want a film of me acting all fake bubbly with a fake couple and waving a camera around. Equally I couldn't expect to use a real wedding day as an opportunity for me to make a promotional video. And then I figured it out. Why not ask the people who know best what it's like to have me as their wedding photographer? Real live couples whose weddings I have photographed!

So one icy cold Sunday in February Tupper Manor in Beverly, MA was a hive of activity. Joanne from Joya Beauty and Lena from Hair that Moves were on hand to do a mini professional hair and make-over for the ladies. Diana of Diana Ma Weddings and Events helped out with coordination, set design and even made trips to Panera Bread to keep everyone from going thirsty or hungry. And Long Haul Films - oh Long Haul Films, where to start? Tom and Melissa of Long Haul Films helped me come up with concept, the schedule, set up lights and cameras and Melissa did the most phenomenal job of interviewing all of the couples. And they produced six - count 'em - six short films which I will be previewing each day here on the blog. And if you can't wait for a new video each day you *might* want to head on over to Leah Haydock Photography on facebook. Hit like on the page and maybe, just maybe there might be a sneak peak over there...

And my wonderful couples. Not only did you kindly give up your time on a Sunday, you said the nicest things about having me as your wedding photographer. Unscripted. When I watched the raw footage I had a lump in my throat and had to keep dashing at my eyes with a tissue. It's truly a dream to even call this a job and it's an honor to be allowed into your lives to document your relationships, your families and your memories on your wedding day. Thank you, thank you, thank you to Amanda and Joe, Caitlin and Matt, Diana and Jeff, Katie and Dan, Katy and Sean, Lunda and Jonathan, Neeta and Rich & Renee and Kevin.
[Note: if the video stutters then press pause and wait a few seconds for it render in all of it's HD glory and then press play again]
