I started my day photographing some of the elegant wedding details in Lea's suite. Loved the wedding stationery from Soiree in Andover, MA (I highly recommend making an appointment to see Trish and her team!):
You'd like to see the invitation in more detail? Of course! Adored these tiny little pumpkins that Lea and her bridesmaids spent a number of hours spray painting gold!
As I photographed Lea's Jimmy Choos and beautiful pearl beaded clutch I thought it might just be the perfect backdrop for a shot of the wedding rings:
Aidan chose a traditional Irish Claddagh wedding ring:
If you think Lea's dress looks beautiful just wait until you see it on.
Hair and make up teams from Salon One Haven and Charlotte & Company were making Lea and her bridesmaids look just perfect:
Both Lea & Aidan's families were so welcoming and incredibly happy for them both. Lea's father Virgilio didn't stop smiling the whole day! Lea's bridesmaids insisted he join them for a pre-wedding toast:
As Lea put on her wedding gown I was struck by how perfect it was for the Sacred Heart Italian Church and then for a formal and elegant black-tie reception at the Boston Harbor Hotel. In love with the beading on the sleeves:
Lea - could you look any more beautiful?
Aidan had sent over the most beautiful bouquet from Winston's along with a thoughtful note and jewelry for Lea:
Lea's bridesmaids were dying to see her in her gown and dad Virgilio decided he'd like the best view:
Meanwhile, Audrey started her day with Aidan and the guys joining them for a toast up on the roof of Lea & Aidan's home:
Enough of all of the preparation! We've got a wedding to get to! The ceremony was held at the historic Sacred Heart Italian Church in the North End of Boston. This was my second time there:
Elmo was the incentive for the most adorable ring bearer and flower girl to make it down the aisle:
Lea walked down the aisle on the arm of her proud father Virgilio:
Aidan seeing Lea for the first time:
Beautiful wedding ceremony pictures in Sacred Heart Italian Church of Boston:
Thanks to Sarah Dugan who also shot with me for Lea & Aidan's wedding - this is her shot of the newlyweds from the balcony:
How happy are Lea and Aidan right now?!?!?
We took a few minutes for pictures in the North End before making our way to Christopher Columbus Park for family pictures (Wedding couples - remember to get your photography permit for Christopher Columbus Park or the Public Gardens if you want to take pictures there...!)
We walked over to Paul Revere Mall with the wedding party who were almost outnumbered by tourists trying to take pictures:
Relaxed yet mantel-worthy family pictures. It's also worth noting at this point of the day it was kind of cold, drizzling and super windy - both families were so great at hopping on and off of the trolley as we worked through the list!
One more of the adorable ringbearer and flower girl - Lea's nephew Elio and cousin Gabi:
We snuck across the street...
...as Lea & Aidan really wanted a picture on the carousel:
Back at the Boston Harbor Hotel for the wedding reception I took a couple more pictures whilst Sarah had cocktail hour covered.
It was kind of cold and windy at this point, Lea & Aidan were troopers!!!
This is one of Sarah's:
The Boston Harbor Hotel is one of my very favorite wedding venues in Boston. Michael and Cortney are a dream to work with, the Wharf Room is stunning with virtually panoramic views of the Boston Harbor and there are so many amazing locations close by for pictures. This was my fourth (or fifth?) time as a wedding photographer at the BHH and it's always a pleasure! Here are some of the detail/room set up pictures:
The distinctive calligraphy of the talented Letterings by Liz asked guests to sign the gust book and also shared news of Lea & Aidan's generous and thoughtful gift to Shriners Hospital for Children:
Abundant centerpieces by Spruce Floral topped the stunning linens on the tables:
Glittering numbers helped guests to their tables:
Each escort card was carefully resting atop a golden pumpkin:
The Wharf Room looked so romantic and elegant and was perfectly scented with the perfume of the flowers:
I'm often asked "What makes a good wedding?" and I think a big component is being thoughtful for your guests - it can be something as small as having helpful items in a welcome bag or having a great lounge area for the non-dancers:
Beautiful ornately etched chargers; I challenge you not to feel hungry after reading this menu:
The new Mr & Mrs Forde entered the room and went into their choreographed first dance (note the perfect little votives lining the windows and the uplighting from Boston Uplights):
Blessings, welcomes and toasts were next:
Guests were treated to the most amazing dinner of fresh pasta with peas and prosciutto, salad, filet, Maine lobster and then to top it all off a made-to-order crepe station with tiny creme brûlées, fresh berries and espresso/cappuccinos
Lea danced with her father Virgilio and Aidan with his mom Veronica:
DJ Guy from NuImage was a dream to work with. He always gave us a heads up before making any announcement/starting any event and most importantly he had the dancefloor packed. Lea & Aidan's friends and family really know how to dance!
Amongst the hubbub of it all Lea & Aidan still managed a little romance on the dance floor:
What an epic day!!! Lea & Aidan - thank you for choosing me as your wedding photographer! It's been such a pleasure getting to know you both and your wedding couldn't have been more perfect! Have the most AMAZING honeymoon and I can't wait to work on your wedding album when you get back!
One last one - with the iconic flag of the Boston Harbor Hotel in the background:
Next up will be some terrible iPhone pictures of our Maine "staycation" followed by a wonderfully intimate wedding at Mamma Maria in the North End! Happy Tuesday!
