Boston City Hall Wedding Photographer :: John + Erick

A couple of months ago I received an email inquiry for a wedding in October and spoke at length on the phone to John, one of the grooms. We had such a great conversation about the wedding plans and I was super sad when due to availability I wasn't able to make it work. I made sure to reach out to my network of trusted and talented photographer colleagues and they're in very safe hands for October.

For the next few days I found myself thinking of what a great couple they sounded like and how I wished I could have made it work for their October event. I remembered that John had mentioned he and Erick would be having a small civil ceremony at Boston City Hall and so I decided to reach out and see if they might be interested in me photographing that. So just a few weeks ago on a perfect sunny day I met up with Erick and John:

Here's more information on "How to get married at Boston City Hall"  if you're planning your own elopement! I'd recommend getting a later appointment so you have nice light to take pictures afterwards and then head out for a celebratory cocktail and dinner!

John and Erick waiting patiently for their names to be called:

John and Erick were joined by some close friends and family (if you're planning your own wedding ceremony at Boston City Hall be aware that the room you are married in is pretty tight, there's really only seating for 2-4  people).

John's nephew was taking his role as ring bearer very seriously:

John was on a night out with friends when he walked past Erick on the street. He noticed him immediately. Later in the evening they were in a busy bar when John saw Erick across the room. He plucked up the courage to go and introduce himself and the rest is history. Two Grooms in Boston City Hall for same sex wedding ceremony

City Clerk Maureen Feeney always does a great job of making the short and sweet ceremony as meaningful as possible.

John and Erick kept a tight hold on each other while the formalities were discussed:

The multi-talented ringbearer decided to do a spot of writing on the vintage typewriter:

The wedding ceremony had the perfect mix of laughter and emotion. John and Erick make such a great couple:

Married!

John's father was so happy for his son and Erick. Big hugs all round!

After the ceremony we hopped into cars and made our way to the Public Gardens for a few happy "just married" pictures:

Loving the grey suits with the blue ties and pop of color from the boutonnieres. Very stylish grooms!

We even had a little time for some relaxed family pictures:

Erick and John took a little walk over the bridge and I loved how tourists on the swan boats were cheering and shouting congratulations:

John & Erick - Congratulations to you both!!! Your love and happiness is obvious for anyone to see - I am so happy to document your wedding ceremony! Have a blast in October!!!
