St Catherine of Genoa + State Room Boston Wedding Pictures :: Marianne + Matt

Just last month I photographed the last wedding of 2014 and what a way to go out! Each year I like to photograph ~20 weddings but somehow between sisters of previous brides and previous bridesmaids and other craziness I ended up at 32 weddings over the year! It was awesome but I was spread a little too thin so 2015 will be strictly 20-25 weddings tops!)

Rest assured although weddings are over for the year I have ALL sorts of great little articles planned for the blog over the winter - Best Ofs, Education Articles and other good stuff. But enough rambling, let's get to Marianne & Matt's wedding:

Audrey and I started the day at the Millennium Boston Hotel for the getting ready fun. Check out the classic cream and navy wedding stationery:

Hair and make up fun was underway, loving Marianne's elegant and timeless hairstyle:

Marianne was helped into her wedding dress by her mother Terri and her MOH/cousin Diana. If your dress has any kind of little tiny buttons then having a crochet hook will make the whole process much easier and faster (not to mention not messing up your manicure!)

Marianne opened her letter and gift from Matt and barely held it together:

Frank, Marianne's dad, seeing his daughter in her wedding dress for the first time:

Marianne's parents surprised her with a letter and gifts including a diamond bracelet and again Marianne nearly lost it but held it together!

I always ask each couple to fill in a short pre-wedding planning document and one of the questions is about VIP guests, I was so excited to see that Marianne and Matt listed their grandparents and explained how close they were to them. Here's Marianne's grandmother Maryann arriving on the morning of the wedding!

Meanwhile Audrey was over with Matt, the guys and Rhett who was in contention for the "cutest ring bearer" award:

This image of Matt helping his Godson Rhett with his boutonnière is one of my favorites:

Marianne had Rhett deliver her letter and gift to Matt. The watch was carefully set to 2:30pm (the time of the wedding ceremony)

We made our way to Saint Catherine of Genoa Parish in Somerville, MA for the wedding ceremony:

I'll let the ceremony pictures speak for themselves:

Married!!!!

The clocks went back the week before the wedding so we knew we were racing against the clock to take post-ceremony pictures in the daylight. Luckily everyone hopped into the limos promptly and we made it to Christopher Columbus park with just enough time!

Relaxed yet mantel worthy family pictures:

Marianne and Matt pushed cocktail hour back a little bit so they would still have time to join their friends and family for champagne and hors d'oeuvres! We wondered around the park and found the last of the foliage and took advantage of the sun going down.

Back at The State Room Boston (one of my very favorite venues in Boston to work at as a wedding photographer), cocktail hour was underway in the Cityside Salon. Courtney Haskell and the whole State Room team were a joy to work with as always.

We stopped for a couple of pictures on arrival at The State Room

Guests picked up their calligraphy escort cards and made their way into the Harborside Salons where the lighting, flowers, mercury votives and tall candles made for a wonderfully inviting setting!

Once guests were seated, the newlyweds danced together:

Marianne's father welcomed everyone and then MOH Diana and Best Man (and Matt's brother) Jeff toasted the couple:

Marianne danced with her father and Matt with his mother:

Marianne explained to me that she didn't want to do the whole bouquet toss thing but instead she would present her bouquet to her grandmother. I thought this was absolutely lovely:

Mmmmm - cake:

The dance floor was officially opened and let's just say that Marianne and Matt's guests knew how to dance!

I love twinkle lights. Trees filled with twinkle lights? My idea of heaven!

The dance floor was literally jumping!

The party continued until late in the night!

Marianne & Matt - what a beautiful day! From the first time we met for drinks and wedding planning chat on Super Bowl weekend to your perfect wedding day - it's been a blast! I hope you like this handful of my favorite pictures - SO many more to come! Thank you for choosing me as your wedding photographer.
