The Barn at Gibbet Hill Wedding Photographer :: Emily + Matt

Bride and groom standing in a field at the Barn at Gibbet Hill

Good morning lovely blog readers! Did you have a wonderful weekend? Today is going to be a hot one or as fans of The Fast Show might say, "Scorchio!" So why not go and get an iced coffee, diet coke or your beverage of choice and settle in for Emily & Matt's amazing wedding at the Barn at Gibbet Hill in June?

Audrey and I started our day at the Westford Regency where Emily and Matt were getting ready in their suites.

I loved the delicate lace bolero (cape? capelet? shrug?) to go with Emily's lace wedding dress. After hair and make up (shout out to Emily's super talented hairstyling bridesmaid Angela!) Emily put on her wedding dress and couldn't have looked happier or more beautiful!

Meanwhile Matt's family barber and friend Mike Savino was on hand to make sure all of the guys looked sharp:

The inevitable googling of "how to tie a bow tie":

They see me rolling...

Emily & Matt wanted to spend as much time as possible with their guests plus they would be having a Ketubah signing later so they chose to do a first look. Happy reactions!

Emily & Matt were a joy to photograph, one minute they would be so sweet and romantic with each other and the next they'd be goofing around with much laughter:

We took advantage of the rather lovely light coming into the porch for some wedding party pictures:

Pretty Emily! I noticed that a lone red rose was hidden in the soft pink and white peonies of Emily's bouquet (Petals Inc). I couldn't help but ask about the significance. Emily explained that living in NYC Matt walks to and from work, whenever he passes a florist on his way home he'll always bring her a single long stem red rose.

We made full use of the grounds of Gibbet Hill for pictures of the almost-newlyweds:

The next two pictures are some of my very favorites of the day. I can't decide which one I like more so I've included them both. You're welcome. Bride and groom at wedding at Gibbet Hill with farm in background

These "behind the scenes" pictures are Audrey's. I'd like to think the wedding party are laughing with me vs. at me - but I'll take either ;)

We were then joined by Emily & Matt's families for some relaxed family pictures:

A pre-wedding recessional on the way to sign the Ketubah? Why not!? Bubbles too? Yes please! Bride and groom walking down aisle with bubbles at wedding

The signing of the Ketubah was a joyous and happy affair thanks to Rabbi Meir Feldman

As guests arrived at the barn for the outdoor wedding ceremony they were met by a thoughtful selection of fresh lemonade and iced tea:

It was a hot day so the cows of Gibbet Hill had taken cover under the trees. Audrey and I were joined by fellow photographer Kate for the wedding ceremony and cocktail hour and some of the pictures that follow are hers.

Matt with his father Gary:

Emily walked down the steps from the barn where she was met by her proud parents to escort her down the aisle:

Matt watching Emily walk towards him:

The Bedeken - or veiling ceremony. This custom originated with Rebecca who covered her face when meeting her groom Isaac - the veil emphasizes that the groom is interested in the bride's inner beauty.

Emily circled Matt (Matt's brother Andrew gallantly stepped in to help Emily navigate her way around Matt with her wedding dress, train and veil) and then Matt circled Emily:

The Barn at Gibbet Hill is such a wonderful New England wedding venue. Rollings hills, a stunning outdoor wedding ceremony location, a beautifully renovated and restored 100-year old barn capable of holding up to 220 guests - it's perfect!

Vows were read, rings were exchanged, blessings were made, the glass was broken and Emily & Matt kissed!

Married!!!!

On a scale of happiness from 1-10 I would rate Emily and Matt at around an 11:

Cocktail hour on the porch with Emily & Matt's favorite bloody mary cocktails:

Inside the barn the tables were set with tall willow branches and candles galore for a beautiful romantic feel:

Emily and Matt took to the dancefloor for their first dance as newlyweds:

They had some rather impressive moves after Matt literally swept Emily off her feet, it was time for the hora:

Guests sat down to catch their breath and the welcome, blessing and toasts:

I looked outside to see the most beautiful twilight blue night sky so we stole away for 3 minutes of night time pictures:

Emily danced with her father Fred:

The cake cutting was another great example of the playfulness of Emily and Matt - don't worry there was no full-on cake smashing, just a gentle dab of frosting on noses!

And with that the dancefloor was declared open by the wonderful, stupendous, magnificent Beantown. It's been a little while since I've seen Beantown and I was BLOWN AWAY - I'd forgotten how ridiculously good they are! If you're looking for one of the very very very best bands for your Boston wedding then book them straight away!

All that dancing gets tiring, how about a little late night snack of truffled popcorn?

Emily & Matt - what a day and what a night!?!? Thank you for choosing me as your Barn at Gibbet Hill Wedding Photographer. It's been an absolute pleasure getting to know you both, from your NYC engagement pictures to your most fabulous wedding! Wishing you both a lifetime of love, laughter, health and happiness!
