Turner Hill Wedding Photographer :: Julie + Jonathan (Part II)

It's Sunday evening, maybe you're playing some holiday music, maybe you're decorating your tree, maybe you have chestnuts roasting on an open fire...why not make some hot chocolate or have a glass of Baileys on ice to enjoy part II of Julie & Jonathan's Parisian/Peacock themed wedding extravaganza at the Mansion at Turner Hill.

We're now at Turner Hill in Ipswich, MA. Turner Hill is one of the very best North Shore wedding venues. They have a beautiful outdoor wedding chapel, an ivy covered terrace for cocktail hour, a large tent with teak dancefloor, numerous rooms inside the mansion for dancing etc - it's an absolutely stunning location for a wedding:

With some delicious little hors d'oeuvres to enjoy we took some relaxed family and wedding party pictures:

I am in love with this picture of Julie:

I feel like there's an kind of Alice in Wonderland feel to the grounds of Turner Hill. I could have photographed Julie and Jonathan together all day :) I had to limit myself to 10-15 minutes so they could enjoy cocktail hour though ;)

I had my super talented photography BFF Kate McElwee along with me for the day. We try to shoot for each other at least once or twice a year as it's a really refreshing experience, I'm looking forward to returning the favor for Kate in January :) Kate took some fabulous detail/set up pictures while I took guest pictures at cocktail hour. Loved the tiny French postcards attached to a birdcage acting as escort cards and the French arrondissement signs as table names:

Julie's friend Chuck acted as MC to make the introductions and he was AWESOME!

Julie and Jonathan entered the tent to cheers and whoops and went straight into their first dance as husband and wife followed by some fairly hilarious toasts:

With dinner finished everyone adjourned to the mansion for the cake cutting:

This was the second time this year that I've seen The Pulse of Boston at a wedding and they ROCKED it!

Julie & Jonathan - I can't believe it's all over!!! Well, for me, not for you two who have the rest of your lives together! From that first meeting over martinis and truffled popcorn to learning about the delights of Regina Pizzeria to your impeccably planned and executed wedding, it has been SUCH a pleasure!!! I'm so happy I got to document your wedding day! Wishing you a lifetime of love involving lots of trips to Europe and long happy dinners of pasta and chianti!

Turner Hill Wedding Photographer :: Best North Shore Wedding Venue :: Cathy + Brian (Part II)

Bon Soir. This evening we are mostly at Turner Hill Mansion & Golf Course in Ipswich, MA and in my opinion it's probably the best wedding venue on the north shore of Boston. We had a little block of time before the sun went down and the guests arrived for cocktail hour so it was time for couples portraits:



I like to take a low-ket role at this time of day but as Cathy was putting on a tiny bit more lipgloss I asked Brian how he felt as he was saying his wedding vows:


Turner Hill has the most BEAUTIFUL grounds. I could have shot here for hours:


A boat of shrimp? Yes please!

I loved how Cathy and Brian took the beautiful space of the Turner Hill Mansion and made it their own including a Euchre room!

Boston College Club + Wedding at St Mary of the Assumption Church Brookline, MA :: Cathy + Brian (Part I)

Boo! Did you think I'd fallen off the face of the blogging planet? Nope, just drowning in beautiful wedding albums. And I'm actually writing this post from the comfort of my parent's home in the UK. The internet may be slow as molasses but there's bacon and chocolate galore to make up for it.

Anyway, we'll be starting this fabulous November wedding at Boston College club, heading over to St Mary of the Assumption in Brookline, MA for the wedding ceremony and then tomorrow it's a short drive to Turner Hill in Ipswich which is probably the most beautiful north shore wedding venue ever.

I'm jumping right in at Boston College Club which is where the girls got ready. BCC might just be the best kept secret in Boston (well, up until now). Not only can you stay there but they have two huge and well lit rooms PERFECT for getting ready at a fraction of the cost of some of the larger hotel suites. If all if my couples got ready here I'd be a happy photographer...

I was just about to head out with Brian and his family to do some pictures in the public gardens when he decided to talk to Cathy through the doors. So so sweet. I had the ridiculously talented Ben from Avenna Studios along with me for the day so he ran to the other side of the door to get the picture of Cathy:



I work with each couple on their timeline so we can maximize the time they spend together and make sure we have enough time for the pictures they want. In order for Cathy and Brian to enjoy cocktail hour (and to make sure we had enough light before sunset) we did the majority of pictures before the ceremony (Brian and his family, Brian and the groomsmen, Cathy and her family, Cathy and the bridesmaids) so that we only had a couple of "formal" images to get afterwards and Cathy and Brian would have time together.



Ben shot this as Cathy was laced into her dress and I arrived back in time for her awesome sparkly shoes being slipped on:



Then it was back to the public garden again, who knew we'd have such awesome fall foliage in November?




Back at the College Club Brian was practicing his dance moves with a Tuscor action figure (I'll explain in part II :)


Time for the Catholic wedding ceremony at St Mary of the Assumption in Brookline, MA:


Brian was all kinds of emotional. Later on at the reception I asked him how he'd felt when he saw Cathy walking towards him in church and he burst into tears again.

You might call this is a somewhat artistic shot from the balcony, I might call it a handy way to disguise the videographer planted with a tripod in the aisle ;)


The ceremony was really lovely and the priest referred a number of times to the 7 billionth baby just being born which I was a little confused about until I saw this church newspaper:


This was probably the most emotional wedding service I have ever photographed - from tears to laughter and back:


Hoorah! Married!
