Indian Pond Country Club Wedding, Kingston, MA :: Caitlin + Micky (Part V)

OK lovely blog readers, it looks like Monday/Wednesday/Friday posting is preferred so that'll be the plan going forward. Of course if I'm feeling particularly talkative and I've got lots of pictures to share then I might post more often but I can't imagine that would be a problem ;)

And we're back at Indian Pond Country Club in Kingston, MA for Caitlin & Micky's wedding reception.

Why not join us in the beautiful glass foyer to collect your beautifully calligraphed escort card (Caitlin reports that LetteringsbyLiz was just wonderful), enjoy some crudites, cheese and grapes, have a cocktail and sign the rather lovely guest book (Engagement Photographs and book by ?Yes, me!


Whilst Micky and Caitlin enjoyed a cocktail before taking more formal pictures with their extended families and friends, I made a quick dash around to get some detail and set up pictures.

Indian Pond is such a beautiful wedding venue. It's remarkably close to Boston. The grand ballroom looked beautiful with the roaring fire, the gold chiavari chairs, tiny candle votives and Godiva truffle favors awaiting the guests:


Here's where I slip off my ballet flats, balance precariously on a chair and crane over the table to get an overhead shot with the super-wide 14-24mm lens :)


Caitlin has magnificent taste. I particularly loved how she chose whites and spring green flowers (Awesome Blossoms by Helen - see vendor list at the end of this blog) as the accent to the chocolate brown of the bridesmaid dresses and invitations. Although it was a chilly November day everything looked so elegant and fresh.

In fact the cake (Veronica's Sweetcakes - see vendor list at the end of this post) was just so lovely and I caught such funny expressions from Caitlin & Micky I think we'll have some more cake pictures:

DJ for the wedding was the most excellent Kevin Stallings of Good Times Unlimited. I've worked with both Dave and Kevin a number of times now and I really can't put into words how great they are. It goes without saying that the dance floor is always full; they do an amazing job of sensing the mood of the crowd and they are just so professional. I'll always get a quick heads-up before any key event like introducing guests/toasts etc and that makes my life SO much easier. If you're still looking for a DJ for 2011 then I can't recommend anyone better than Good Times Unlimited.

Indian Pond Country Club Wedding, Kingston, MA :: Caitlin + Micky (Part III)

We're back at St Christine's Church in Marshfield, MA for their wedding ceremony:

The choir were singing to welcome the arriving guests:


Caitlin walked down the aisle with her father looking straight at Mickey:


And then they held hands all the way through the ceremony:


It was completely dark outside and we had just the lights above the altar to see by. It's times like these when I love my Nikon D3s even more for it's "seeing in the dark" capabilities. This was shot at ISO 4000 f/2.8 1/160 (but it's nice knowing I have ISO 102,400 capabilities if I really need it):

And by the power vested in me by the state of my blog, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride:


A quick note about the picture above, the shot on the right was taken by my superb second shooter Julia Snider. Unless it's a teeny tiny wedding then I almost always have an assistant/second photographer for help with my lighting/equipment/a second perspective and most importantly to keep me supplied with diet coke ;)

Julia (headshot photographer extraordinaire) probably photographed about 65% of my 2010 weddings with me and so she's gotten used to my idiosyncrasies and how I work. Poor Julia!

For example, in the shot above Julia correctly anticipated that I'd be in the aisle for "the kiss" so I could get a shot of Caitlin & Micky as they recess back down the aisle. Hence she quietly made her way over to the side of the church to get her angle. Good stuff - in fact - I feel a blog post on second shooting coming up in the future - any interest?

And although I posted yesterday mentioning my new plan to blog on a regular schedule (leave comments please!) I've got SO many wonderful pictures I'm catching up on I think it'll be an everyday kind of week. Here's the schedule for what's coming up:

Indian Pond Country Club Wedding, Kingston, MA :: Caitlin + Micky (Part II)

Hello! Happy New Year!

As a general rule I'm not big on new year resolutions. I kind of think that if you want to make a change why wait for a specific once-a-year day? But I am thinking about committing to a more regular blog posting schedule in 2011. I'd love to hear your preferences in the comments...every Monday/Wednesday/Friday....every Tue/Thur/Sat? Yes - that means you!

Anyhoo, back to Caitlin & Micky's wedding at St Christine's Church and Indian Pond Country Club in Kingston, MA. Click **here** if you missed the beautiful wedding details and start of the getting ready pictures.

Caitlin and Micky opted to do a first look which was great for so many reasons:

#1 They got to spend lots more time together on their wedding day

#2 We did family pictures before the 5pm ceremony. Remember that it goes dark just after 4pm in the winter so it's nice to have some natural light for flattering formal pictures

#3 After the ceremony everyone could head straight to cocktail hour to enjoy the delicious appetizers and drinks

#4 With no need to keep Caitlin and Micky separate before the ceremony, everyone got to ride together on the trolley for good times!

#5 And of course we had more time for relaxed couples portraits. First looks rock!

Caitlin's family have a house on Humarock Beach and so we did the first look there. I usually find a good spot for the groom and then arrange for the bride to follow so I can photograph his reaction. After finding a nice spot in the shade for Micky, I went over to tell the trolley driver to bring Caitlin over. I looked back to see Micky obviously feeling a little nervous as he waited:

Caitlin wisely switched the Jimmy Choos for silver flip flops for the short walk on the beach:


I think it's fairly safe to say that Micky was a pretty happy groom...


Time to head back to the trolley:


Even though it was crazy bright out in the sun (I usually like to find some nice open shade for family pictures) we took some pictures out on the bridge overlooking the beach. Micky is from Northern Ireland and so he had a large contingent of friends and family fly over to celebrate his wedding to Caitlin:

We all travelled to the church together on the trolley and as we still had a little time to spare we hopped out once or twice for more pictures. It was pretty chilly on the bright November day and so Caitlin brought along a little faux fur jacket that not only kept her warm but also looked rather fabulous:

The light was now nice and low and the glow from the church lights made a great backdrop for more family pictures. Caitlin with her parents and Micky with his aunt Mary:


I'll leave you with this last picture of Caitlin & Micky as the sun was setting. One of my friends was over this morning and as I was processing this picture she smiled and said "oh - that looks just like a Cinderella picture!"

Indian Pond Country Club Wedding :: Caitlin + Micky (Part I)

Nope I didn't drop off the face of the earth :) last week we were in England and Northern Ireland for an early Christmas and so I was too focused on eating my weight in bacon and chocolate and mince pies and fish and chips to blog. But never fear, I'm back with the most excellent wedding that was Caitlin & Micky's at Indian Pond Country Club in Kingston, MA.

I think we'll start with a little appetizer of gorgeous wedding details - let's just say that not only does Caitlin have very good taste in husbands - Micky is such a great guy - but she is a girl after my own heart when it comes to shoes and purses:


Love love love. Why buy a pair of white satin kitten heels that you'll never wear again in your life when you can have these babies encase your little feet?

The getting ready fun took place at Caitlin's parents house at Humarock Beach, which was also the location for the first look (coming up tomorrow), I wanted to incorporate the beach/boat theme into the pictures so was happy when I spotted this little sailboat:


Wedding dresses are usually hung on terribly practical plastic hangers with a sort of cardboard frame to hold the bodice in place. I actually keep a bunch of satin padded hangers in my car to use for pictures but I didn't need to as Caitlin had this divine personalized hanger ready to go:


When I bought my Nikon 105mm f/2.8G lens a couple of years ago I remember Mr H expressing a little disbelief that I needed to spend $900 on a lens that I'd use for probably 5-10 shots per wedding. But everytime I get it out I sign with happiness at the pictures it allows me to take:

Caitlin's wedding rings belonged to Micky's late mother so they have extra special sentimental meaning:


As I flitted around the house getting all the detail pictures I noticed Caitlin wonderfully silhouetted by the window as she had her make up done with her hair all pinned up around her head:


I know, I know, such a tease. First look and ceremony tomorrow...
